Candle bust Marie Antoinette - rose

This little-known likeness of Marie-Antoinette of Austria is attributed to one of the Brachard brothers, either the eldest Jean-Charles-Nicolas or the youngest Jean-Nicolas-Alexandre. This object is an idealized portrait of the queen rather than an invocation of a ruler at the height of her power. The head is turned slightly to the right; the shoulders are covered with a band of cloth, which gives the bust more naturalness. In addition, she wears a crown decorated with a lily and a row of pearls. One of the most famous and controversial women in French history, Marie-Antoinette was the subject of numerous artistic depictions. Many valuable works of art disappeared during the French Revolution. Fortunately, some specimens survived the upheavals of time.

The 22 cm high candle is made by hand. Almost too good to light: the wax busts and sculptures of TRUDON are true works of art and are intended more for collecting than for use.

Height: 22cm
